I'm considering ordering one soon. But I'm wondering about how Apple Canada is in dealing with defective hardware. What if I had ordered a 17" MBP and I get a defective battery? Are there "authorized Apple service centers" in York region to get my battery exhanged? What if I get a laptop with a defective screen? I've heard stories of MBP owners with a screen that has an overly bright light only along the bottom edge (happened with Dell laptops too). How easy is it to be fixed?

well i don't live in Canada but i would advice that you wait till june 11 as new MBP's are expected! the rumors are that the 15.4" model will get LED screens but i'm not sure about the 17" model!
there is exactly two weeks till WWDC on June 11 so hang on till then like me!;)

and if you are worried that you'll get a defect product, the warranty should take care of that no problem.

There are 3 Apple Stores in the GTA (Yorkdale, Eaton Centre, & Sherway Gardens) and I'm sure hundreds of authorized service centres...I don't think repair would be an issue in T.O.

    Hey CC72,

3 Apple Stores? Great. I was only aware of the one at Yorkdale. Any how, I suppose if a battery needed to be exchanged we could take it to any of the authorized service depots correct? Or would we have to go to an Apple Store? Repairs...we'd obviously take it to a service center.

I can wait a few weeks. I'm in no hurry. Would be nice if the 17" will also use LEDs. But I haven't heard anything about it. Just the 15" MBPs.

But I'm sure when they are available Apple will let us know. :)

    Thanks for the input guys.
