Hi all,

I have the 2016 rMB m7, and I've got it currently connected to the LG 27UD69P display successfully (4k@60Hz). I've connected the monitor from the USB-C port to the DisplayPort on the monitor, using a USB-C to DisplayPort cable. The cable I am using is the following: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0744GWJ8X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Unfortunately my MacBook isn't being charged through the cable, so without some kind of adapter I have no way of charging the MacBook and using the display at the same time. Am I incorrect in thinking that I should be receiving power, or does it not work like that through DisplayPort? Is it strictly only USB-C to USB-C for power and video?

Thanks.

USB-C to USB-C only. You needed to buy the LG 27UD88 or better for a single cable solution.

Ahh that sucks, yeah I tried looking for it but I couldn't find that one being sold anywhere in the UK :(

I suppose I'll live, thanks

Indeed, there has been a shortage since the UltraFine range launched. I got lucky in November 2016 when there were no supply issues - picked one up for £499 from Overclockers.

You just need to get yourself a USB-C dock/adapter that allows for USB-C charge passthrough alongside HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.2.
