ok this thread has nothing to do, nor do i intend it to include the topics of illegal filesharing of music/movies/programs.... so here it goes...

I recently finished making my first video project with adobe premiere pro... its very bad, but good for a first attempt... the thing is, i need to know if there is a way i could send this finished project over the internet to my grandpa who lives in a different state... email is out of the question b/c this file is almost a gigabite... so my question is...

Does anyone know of a FREE program or way to send large files over the internet QUICKLY... aka faster than aim can (roughly 21 Kb/s)????

any help would be appreciated

dunno if your grandfather knows ftp, but...

you could set up your machine as an ftp server. make an account for him on your machine, put the file in his Movies folder, give him your current WAN IP, and have him 'ftp get' it.

or, if you have a website, you could upload it to a hidden directory on there. or even turn on the webserver on your mac, much like i suggested w/ ftp. he could get to your machine, again, w/ the WAN ip.

couldn't you just enable web sharing and give him your IP? stuff the file and throw it in your web folder; it should be bearable if you both have cable or dsl...
