Well I looked around a bit and found no answer, hope this is not out of line here. When I first purchased my iMac about 2 years ago it had garage band as part of the programs. At the time I decided to remove it.......now I have found a use for it and have upgraded to OS X El Capitan.........I find it is now for sale on the Apple Store. Is it not a part of the included programs on an iMac? Don't mind paying of it, just want to confirm it's the only way to acquire it these days.

Thanks for any info.

If you bought your iMac after September 1, 2013, it included free iLife and iWorks apps, including GarageBand. To get the free apps you need to open the Mac App Store app and login with your AppleID and "claim" the free apps, even though they are already installed. Then once you have claimed the free apps they will show up in your purchase history to you redownload if you ever need to.
