I'm using a Mac. If I put a hidden folder/file onto a USB drive and connect the drive to a Windows computer, is the folder hidden to the Windows computer?

Thats a good question, I dont know. I think it wouldnt be hidden anymore since it goes from one filesystem to another. I can check when I get home,

RE: hidden files...

Hi,

What is your use for the hidden files? If you are concerned with security, hidden files are not the way to go. It only takes a modicum of understanding of filesystems/OSes to know how to view hidden files. If you are concerned with convenience (hidden files not showing up in Finder/Windows), then it depends on the filesystem/OS and there are other solutions for not cluttering the Finder/Windows windows.

Basically, I just want to make certain that you aren't using hidden files as a security precaution.

as Switon says, if you are concerned with security, hidden files are not the answer. The only way to have real security is to encrypt the files.
