Hi, I managed to break my series 4 watch the other day, great start to the year, I need to replace it but don’t want to pay full price for a new one.
As tempted as I am by the Ultra, I have been looking at refurbished models, I see on eBay Music Magpie sells the series 7 for 300, is it safe to buy from them? They offer a years warranty, what condition are they in? I did see one in clearance in Argos new but they seem to have gone now. Ideally I’d like a series 6. Apples refurb prices are a lot higher then other places.
Anyone know if any other outlets for cheap Apple Watches in the UK?

There’s no ”standard” for refurbishment - I could literally do nothing to a watch and sell it on eBay as refurbished. I had two sets of “refurbished” AirPods from Wish and both were garbage.

Personally I’d only buy refurbished from Apple unless the seller has a good quantity of relevant good reviews and the price was super low.

I have no problem buying Apple refurbished though.

Last month I bought a refurbished watch from Apple. I wanted to switch to the 45mm size of my watches. I had an S7 blue that I loved but Apple dropped the color when the S8s came out. I had never bought a refurbished device. The 45mm S7 cellular was $429. It is in perfect shape and looks brand new. I assume the battery was replaced as it has a 100% life. It is one of three watches that is worn regularly and now I forget that it's refurbished. And like my other devices I purchased Apple Care.

Luckily I can afford it and I've always believed that you get what you pay for. I know there are cheap refurbs but they are cheap for a reason.

Hmm food for thought, looking at the Curry’s outlet store the prices aren’t actually much off the Apple ones. The blue Series 7 from Argos in its clearance is gone too, unless I want to drive 130 miles to get it!

I think I’ll wait till my Brother in law has gone to John Lewis as they get returns or clearance that aren’t on their webpage, he bought his watch like that and it looked like new, or maybe I’ll have to use the Apple refurb store unless I get lucky with a clearance. Won’t be buying till next month anyway. A cellular Series 7 is catching my attention, £419 on Apple.

Do Apple refurb watches come in new boxes?

BT were just doing clearances of S7 cellular for £279, I think they have just sold out. Great deal if you’re after one, not enough of an upgrade from my SSSB5 for me.
Apple refurbished devices are stringently tested (unlike new ones straight from the factory) So I would have no worries from them.

Thanks, I think the Apple refurb may be the only option come end of February, or the John Lewis rout mentioned above. That’s a hell of a price though £279!

Yea, nearly got one but I know they for me alu will feel like a toy going from SS. Some nice additions on the 7 but the sapphire screen on mine beats them imho.

Of course the available stock on Apple's refurb site can change often. If you don't see what you want, check in a few days. Of course if you do see one you want you need to decide quickly before it's gone. The blue cellular S7 45mm that I got was only shown a few days after I got mine.

Yes, Apple refurbs come in the original box with like-new packing. The only difference is the small label on the box that says "Apple Certified Refurbished".

Thought I’d update, John Lewis here in the UK is selling the Series 8 with £50 off, so that makes the none cellular one brand new £20 less then Apples refurbished Series 7 cellular. So I think I’ll get one of those and it’ll be new.

Only thing is, Midnight aluminium or Starlight aluminium, I’m leaning towards the Starlight, my series 4 is a silver one. I also saw I can sell my broken series 4 on eBay. Should get some money back then.

The S8 also comes in silver aluminum. Just throwing that out there in case you missed it. The S7 alu did not have silver.

Yes I saw that, I never knew the S7 didn’t. I think the Starlight is a bit more interesting to me though.

Ordered the Starlight Apple Watch Series 8 45MM standard. Will look at other straps later or when I’m near an Apple Store.

I just bought a refurbished Series 8 Cellular/GPS Midnight 45mm with the silicone or whatever strap on eBay. My first apple watch - just wanted to try one to see if it works for me. Not sure it does..., but came here to learn more about it.

Anyway, it was $313 including shipping.

the watch is indistinguishable from new - retail packaging and everything. Seems like a good deal...

seller was Readysettech - no.., that's not me.

It looks like they are out of my model now, but they seem to be a pretty big seller.
