Hello,

I apologize if this is a stupid question.

I am going to return an iPhone for the first time. The phone was purchased at full price, picked up last Friday, and activated on my current phone number and a non-prepaid AT&T account.

I may pick up a different iPhone when I return my current one. If I do pick up a new one, do I go through the same activation process again? If I don't get a new one, what happens to my phone number?

Could I pick up an iPhone 8+ SIM Free and put the SIM from the phone being returned into it and it work?

Thank you,
-Chris

Yes you can just swap SIM cards. That’s what I always do on a regular basis to use different phones based on what my mood is.
