Hello guys! I'm new here. So this is my issue.

A cousin gave me his iphone6+.

He told me that he already factory reset it and he already unlock the iphone.

When I open the phone, maybe it was indeed reset already because I went to the process of choosing the language, selecting wifi network, and logging in my apple ID.

This is my very first iphone and I really don't know how the unlocking method work.

My concern is, for privacy concern, I want to factory reset it again but it may get back to it's "locked" state again and I would be needing to unlock it again.

Will this be the case if I factory reset it?

Or maybe the phone is really clean after all and just came from a factoty reset since I went to the process of what I told above.

Anyone?

all the data connects to Apple ID
so if you factory reset the phone and didn't add any apple id so the phone has no data at all.

so no need to make a new factory reset, and don't worry about your data.

@Mo0onty

what do you mean by data?

Images, videos and hidden files might still be here right?

no, once you reset your phone and remove your apple ID it wipes everything.
IOS not like android, in IOS when you erase an app the entire folder and sub folder for the app is deleted and the app's data is in your Icloud.

@Mo0onty

Alright thanks!

I have two questions.

1. Do you think this was actually factory reset? when I first open it there's a "hello" then it requires me to choose a language, it requires me to choose a country, and let it requires me to choose wifi and it ask me if I have apple account and if I want to sign in. There are few apps, I think these are the default ones like calculator, map, compass, watch, clock and etc.

Again, this is my first time to use an iphone, I really don't know how this works in IOs. I was just so afraid that my privacy might get compromised because I had this bad experience in android that someone is spying on me.

2. If I factory reset it again, will it get locked again?

thanks for your response! really appreciate it!

1- yes, it was factory reset.
2- it's up to you, i wouldn't recommend it, but if you will feel better then do it :)
just make a backup to icloud or itunes, then restore and everything will be the same.

@Mo0onty

Regarding #2.

There's no need for back up I think since I haven't really use it yet. There's no files, saved accounts or installed apps yet.

What do you mean by, "it will still be the same" like it will still be unlocked?

Because he told me that, it is locked when he purchased it and then he unlocked it before giving it to me.

Are you talking about being unlocked as far as being able to use it with any carrier? If so, that basically doesn't have anything to do with what's in the phone, if it's reset, or anything like that.

@C DM

Yup! By the way, the phone is from the US and I will be using it in a different country and obviously a different carrier.

I really wanted to factory reset it again myself just for peace of mind, my only worry is, it might get locked again and I might have a hard time unlocking it or pay someone to unlock it.

Again, I really don't have much technical knowledge with phones especially IOs.

For confirmation, again, Can I factory reset it and it will still be unlocked?

Thanks for the guide friend I reset my iPhone first I get backup my pictures than reset my iPhone and get back my all picture from backup. :)
