I want a fitness band with a long battery life (5-7 days, sleep tracking, etc) from Apple. Not an apple watch so I'd buy one if they released one.

Questionable Rumor Points Towards Upcoming 'Smart Bands' For Apple Watch

The link band owners would only need to buy about a third of a replacement band since they can break their bands in the middle where the removable links are.
This would make the link band more appealing at $500 since it would be upgradable by purchasing just a new section. The clasp and entire other half would be reusable.

I've already bought my Apple Watch, but I'd also be in favor for a smaller form factor. With the current design, the watch feels like a puck of awkward on my wrist. Yes it looks nice... in promotional pictures. But after wearing it for a few months, I'm very much ready for Apple to create something a little more streamlined.

And they could quite possibly also have an option for additional battery life incorporated into those bands as well.
I could see a sports/health band that also extends the battery life. At this point if you use your fitness app more than 2 hours a day (which I do) you won't be able to last a full night out at the end of the day. If you don't use the fitness app at all you're fine and should end the day with around 50%. So I hope they do this with more health features and a extended battery band for those of us who jumped on to the beta test... er... first gen of the product. 
The real question is can they do it AND make it look good? I'm not too keen to the idea of dumping my slick milanese loop in favor of a bloated band to measure my blood pressure. It has to be something that I would wear every day or it won't be very useful.
