It looks like it's similar to what's called Alcantara leather commonly used in cars. Not really leather but it has the feel of suede and is quite durable. It's a kind of microfiber fabric synthesized from polyester and polyurethane.

I drove a Porsche a couple of weeks ago that had the steering wheel and seats made of Alcantara. I personally prefer a smooth natural leather but Alcantara is a paid option at Porsche, so many people pay extra to get it.

This will probably be microfiber leather. This is an animal-friendly (vegan) leather; we've been using it for furniture for a while now.

Fine = Micro
Woven = Fiber

I don’t get it why people spend on this overpriced cases that peel/become black after 3month of use. I preferably use a transparent silicone case to admire the colour of the phone and change it every 2 years after it had become yellowish.

The name is way too specific to be invented by a third party. This name has Apple written all over it.

We've also heard Apple talk about their "supple woven cable" for Vision Pro.
Agree.

”FineWoven” is either made up by AI that was fed only Apple product names or actually a real Apple thing.

And the lack of spacing between the two words fits in with other product names like “AirPods”, “HomePod”, “MacBook”, “MagSafe” etc.

Spending millions in r&d to engineer a new kind of leather/organic fabric imitation material would also be very typical Apple. But obviously also a great way to have a unique product that stands out among counterfeit imitations and regular, genuine leather options from 3rd parties.

Branding it as “FineWoven” instead of “Fine Woven” would indicate that it isn’t just case made of a fine woven material, but that this is a new manufacturing process that gives the material a unique feel and properties compared to other cases in fabric and leather.

I think these FineWoven cases will have their own short segment in the September 12 presentation, explaining how not synthetic it feels and looks and how low its carbon footprint is compared to a leather case.

It seems very plausible.

The insert to the right of that light purple case clearly says leather. 🧐 IMG_2412.jpeg
