I'm thinking of getting the Apple TV, but was curious if I can change the order or what is on the main screen?

I don't plan to buy anything with the Apple TV, just looking for an easy way for non-computer savy folks to pick lots of things to watch if they want.

Also, will the Hulu app, work with the hulu free account? I won't be getting a subscription.

I'll probably be using the youtube and possibly netflix (I might buy a netflix account) but not sure.

If I don't buy any subscriptions is there a better solution for watching youtube on the tv and/or netflix that non-computer savy people can use with a simple interface?

Thanks.

You can arrange most of the menu items on the Apple TV although you can't move or rearrange the icons in the top row (Movies, TV Shows, Music, Computers, etc).

To change where an icon appears on the main menu, follow these steps:

  1. Select the icon you want to move.
  2. Press and hold Select on the remote.
  3. When the icon starts to jiggle, use the remote to move the icon to a new position.
  4. Press Select again to finish.

To hide icons using the Apple Remote:

  1. Select the icon you want to hide.
  2. Hold down the Select button on the remote until the icon starts to jiggle
  3. Press the Play/Pause button for more options.
  4. Select Hide This Item.
