    Hi,
I am going to USA for 4 weeks and I am so excited :D My friend living in another state offered me her student discount.I want to buy Macbook Pro 15 inch retina display so here comes my questions.

1)My trip will start tomorrow and I'll be there for 28 days to be exact.I'll be in a pre-college programme and dont know If they give a student ID.I was wondering If Its possible to order an item from Apple via my card but the student id of my friend from internet ?

2)I will click to the option of overnight delivery because fastest is the best :p Will It be a problem to ship it to a college ? I mean how should I do it ? What If the item arrives while I am not there ?

3)If I go to an apple store with the documents that tells I will be a student for a month, may I be able to buy with my own credit card with discount ?

And when do you think this new macbook will release what would be your advices when It comes to buying this new mac ?
Thank you so much for your help

This is your best option. Go to an Apple Store with the laptop in stock, most will only have the base model (2.3/8/256) or the high-end model (2.6/8/512). Show them your documentation and they will probably give you the discount and the $100 free iTunes gift card.

When I bought mine this way, I offered to login to my university's website as proof, since I did not have any other documentation. It was very easy and not a problem at all.

My suggestion is to ask one of the store sales people. If they say your documentation isn't good enough, ask to speak with the store manager. The managers are more flexible, in my experience.

Thank you,the document says that I am in a pre-college programme for a month, taking lessons less than 10 hours weekly.I'll be in New York so I hope It'll work well.

And 100 dollars is for itunes or for the other products ? :p

I'm sure your documentation will be acceptable.

The iTunes gift card can only be used for iTunes purchases. So music, books, movies and apps. :D

    Hi again,
I'll be going to Apple Store in the 5th avenue in a few days.Okay, let me see what I have.A card that has my name on it ans the student thing which has the official logo of the school.I also have a yellow document to customs declaration indicating that I am enrolled to the pre-college programme which will be for four weeks. The fact is that I have b type visa, not student visa. How should I talk in order to get the discount I mean like I really do need it for my course and thats my limit.

I am sorry to disturb you however all the questions keeping my head. And will I be able to find macbook retina there in 2 weeks ?
    Thank you

The 5th Avenue store is probably Apple's most popular store in the US (maybe the world). They should have them in stock. If they sell out, return the next day. I am located in Houston, TX. There are two stores close to me that have them in stock every day. They sell out, but receive more the next day.

Just tell them you are a student. If they ask for documentation, show them your student card. That should be the only thing necessary. In my experience, the Apple Stores sell to MANY students so you should have no problem at all.

Don't worry about your visa, that's not important. Your student card is evidence.

Edit: I just called them. They were out of stock but they advised that I call back in the morning and they might have some. He said they do not arrive every day but calling in the morning is the best way to know if they receive any. So if you are going to be in New York for four weeks, you should be able to buy one when they receive it. Just call them every morning.

I do not think you will have a problem. Visit the store and ask to speak with the store manager. Explain your situation and I'm sure the manager will be helpful. They are very helpful. I am sure they will save one for you so you can purchase it when you get out of school.

No need to be scared. You will have a new Macbook soon!

In Apple store USA the internet one,It is said that today It was stocked out and will be ready to ship in 3-4 weeks.I am thinking of calling them and see If they actually have a one around 11-12 am.I called the 5th avenue today and the answer was no. actually wanted to go on Sunday but I guess It'd probably be sold out once again. When It will return to normal ? I thought that was going to be simple, just going to an apple retail store get it and go.

I have an idea. Call the store and ask them to order one for you and to have it delivered to the store. If the wait time is 3-4 weeks, it should arrive before you leave NY. You will need to give them a credit card but you are not charged for the order until it ships.

But... continue to check the store every day and ask if they have them in stock. If they get one and you are able to buy in person, buy it. Then cancel the online order.

This will guarantee that you get a Macbook. If you can't buy one directly from the store, you will get the one you order.

I tried to do that from phone but they said I can only do it online but to be honest I dont know how to ship it online to the store.I guess that is not the best option for me since I cant enter from a secure internet.

I talked with the salesperson from the phone and she said they cant reserve it.There is nothing to hope than It will arrive to store and wont stuck out until I go there.Since I am not allowed to go out all by myself I need to convince a friend for the buddy system so It will definetely be hard. When they even one in store will It show up at the online picking up or is it blocked because of the site. ? Calling them costs me a lot I already spend around 7 dollars

I don't think the website is offering the Macbooks for in-store pickup. When I do it, it also shows that they are not in stock. So do not consider the website to be accurate.

Why not order it online and have it shipped to your hotel (or school)? It does not have to be shipped to an Apple Store. When ordering online, you are required to enter the shipping address, which is different than your credit card billing address. Like this:

For example, I have a RMBP on order and it is being shipped to my work address, not my house. I already have the new Macbook, but I've ordered another one with 16GB RAM. :D

What do you mean you do not have secure internet? You have a few options. Your best bet would be to order from the apple.com website. Find a computer that you can use and order it that way. If not, order from a local Apple store and ask them to ship it to your address in the US (the same way you would do if you were buying it as a gift). Or just call the Apple phone number. I don't know what country you are in, but here's a list of international numbers:

That would be a problem because I am leaving in 20 days which means If they ship and I return to my country, problems wont leave me.I am in USA at the moment and I'll be calling everyday the 5th avenue :(( Or in the end'I will end up with a normal mac I definetely dont want to:( We have limited time of going outside and can only enter to the websites from one computer so i really dont want to do that but I dont know how should It work otherwise to have a macbook retina.

Do you think that they might have macbook retina saturday or sunday ?

This I do not know. Stores do receive shipments on Saturday, but I don't know if they will receive Retina Macbooks.

Go to the store as often as you can. Talk with the store manager and explain your situation. It is important that you speak with the store manager since they are the ones that have authority to help. The manager should understand that you only have 20 days. They will try to help.

    Good luck!

Why limit yourself to the 5th avenue store? In your position I'd be calling, at minimum, all of the Manhattan stores.
