Solved the Catalyst problem, but now in XP the system restarts alone, without pressing anything, in whichever moment, a nightmare!!!!!

To install it, I ran the installer until it fails (like the error you got). Then open device manager, and tell it to update the video card drivers. Tell it you have a disk, and point it to the ATI folder that the installer has left on the hard disk (can't remember where, but I imagine it's in c: ). Only problem is that there's 3 folders in the xp drivers folder - one is the drivers, one is the catalyst control centre, the other is the enhanced video support or something. But only the one with the drivers in will work 🙂
I had few crashes (just a couple when exiting certain 3d apps, none while just using windows or playing games). You can boot into safe mode, go to device manager, and tell the video card drivers to 'roll back' - that should fix it.

It simply shuts down and restarts(it did it also when the ATI driver were not installed), and another problem, i tried to install Medal Of Honor Airborne: the first time the installation stopped at the end, the second the DVD made a strange noise, as if it were scratching. 🙁
The installer of windows says he couldn't install video card because there weren't a driver better than the old one installed(Catalyst 8.3....).

The Aluminum Slot-Loading Drive is known to sometimes scratch discs, but it shouldn't be that serious...
I solved the crashes but i tried your method to install the video card driver and it didn't work for me, then i tried to use the ati dh mobility modder and i finally installed the Catalyst Control Center the normal version, but when i try to start the Control Center(CCC.exe) it won't start, i tried to run it from everywhere but nothing. Is a problem of the driver or did i have to install the mobility driver for my card? 😕
