I recently got an iPhone, along with a SwitchEasy Rebel Case and one of those clear flastic bodyguardz skins for the faceplate. (I'm paranoid about scratching it) Being lazy and not wanting to go through the trouble of applying the sticker the day I bought my iPhone, I just wedged the clear plastic under the edges of my case, discovering the case held it in place pretty well.

This worked great, except that I discovered that when i tried to use voicemail or make a phonecalls the screen turned itself off becuase the proximity detector thought the plastic covering on the front of the iphone was my head. Removing the plastic solved my problem.

My question is, after permentantly applying the plastic skin to the front of the iPhone has anyone had the same problem with the proximity detector? I don't want to accidentally break my phone and have to rip off the skin.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

You should be fine once it has been properly installed. I currently have a best skins ever covering the front and back of my iPhone 3G and the proximity detector works fine.

I've had no issues with the Bodyguardz on my phone.

Thanks for the reassurances. I was just being paranoid. :)
