i have questions about Apple IUP that the FAQ does not answer.

I currently have an SX Max that is paid for.

How would trade in work with IUP? The enrollment does not seem to offer that option in IUP. How can I get Apple Care Plus with theft and Loss? I did not see that offered.

Is there any advantage of IUP compared with non-IUP Apple financing?

The trade in value seems to be $600, but I only see that through non-IUP purchase. Please help.

Thanks

Did you chat with Apple?

The advantage of iUP is upgrading on a yearly basis after making 12 payments, and turning that phone in after you upgrade. Apple iPhone Payment plan doesn't have the upgrade option and you just pay monthly for 24 month (U.S), and you don't have the AppleCare added to it, but I believe you can.

I think with iUP, you can upgrade the AppleCare+ to the theft and loss, at least I've seen to option when I did the pre-approval.

Sorry I can't answer your other question in regards to the trade in value to be added on the iUP, but I'm not sure if it's possible to do so. I know you can for the Apple Payment Plan because you aren't upgrading and you are practically keeping that device for 2 years.

I figured it out after chatting with an Apple rep on iMessage:

“With trading in online, since we have a financing plan that allows the value of the trade-in to lower the monthly payments and is able to be applied immediately, before sending in the trade-in, the iPhone Upgrade Program option does go away when adding the trade-in. The options available are the iPhone Payments and full price purchase.”

“With the trade-in and iPhone Upgrade Program enrollment, once the credit for the trade-in is applied to the taxes and other items on the purchase, the remainder of the trade-in value would be in the form of an Apple Store Gift Card. With our financing partner, Citizens One, they have provided the iPhone Payments plan as an option to apply the trade-in value to lower the monthly payments, but with the iPhone Upgrade Program, that option is not there as they have the pricing set with the AppleCare+ included in the monthly payment, which we are not able to adjust I’m afraid.”

I was really after iUP, but at this point, since I’m already pre-approved for AIP, going to stick with it. It’s the most efficient way at this point. Plus I’m getting full trade-in value for my X and not a gift card, which is good.

Someone from the different thread posted this, not sure if this would answer that question.
