Hi all,

I had my @mac.com email address maybe 12 or more years ago, it was a subscription service. I know that the .Mac service has evolved to iCloud today, and I tried to login using this @mac.com email account and the password I had, successfully logged in but it asks me to create security questions and so on, like setting up a new account. After everything's done, I login to iCloud, but there's no email service icon in the launchpad until I registered an @iCloud.com email address. Now this @mac.com email address is available for iCloud service, iMessages and FaceTime, but NOT email service. I tried to sent email to this address, and got the "undeliverable" reply:
ms11p00im-qufv17094201.mac.com gave this error:
unknown or illegal alias: ****@mac.com

Anyone knows how to get it work again?

Apparently the grandfathered .mac.com addresses are only available for email if you migrated from an active Mobile Me account to iCloud before 8/2012. See this support article:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201771

"If you had a working @mac.com email address as of July 9, 2008, kept your MobileMe account active, and moved to iCloud before August 1, 2012, you can use @icloud.com, @me.com, and @mac.com email addresses with your iCloud account."
