I'm trying to decide what i should buy for college i wanted to get a macbook pro 13 in and a 24 in viewsonic VX2450wm http://www.amazon.com/Viewsonic-VX2450WM-LED-23-6-Inch-Widescreen-Speakers/dp/B003Y3BJ7S or this link http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/viewsonic-vx2450wm-led/4507-3174_7-34210825.html?tag=specs

my overall question would be would the 13 in work with that big of a monitor or would the video card not be able to handle the larger resolution of the monitor? any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Even just looking at the specs of the laptop on Apple would have answered this for you.

"Full-HD," or 1920x1080, is a low resolution for a monitor, the 13" won't have any problems. Think of how many people hook up their laptops to their TVs...
