Hello all,

I am new to apple notebooks, but not to macs. I bought a used 2010 MBP and the first thing I thought of doing was changing the battery. System Profiler says the battery is functioning properly, but at over 1100 charge cycles...... Well I think a new one would be a good thing.

I have searched but didn't find any answers. I was told that the battery in this laptop is not user serviceable and I need to take it to a shop/apple to have a new one installed.

Is this true? If so does anyone know the ballpark figure to have this service done at either Apple or an Indy Apple tech?

TIA

You are probably looking at around $100. Don't be tempted to buy a cheap knock off...Get Apple to do the job. You will have a 100% guranteed Apple genuine battery, and a guarantee.

Sounds good to me. Thanks
