I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3.3 and baseband 4.10.01. I would like to upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 but am keen to have the option to go back to 4.3.3 (I've already saved my SHSH blobs). My concern is regarding baseband, I know that if I upgrade to 5.0.1 through iTunes, BB will be permanently upgraded to 4.11.08.

Is it OK, generally, to mix and match baseband and firmware? So if I later downgrade, would iOS 4.3.3 with 4.11 baseband throw up issues?

You either need to use Redns0w or PwnageTool to upgrade to 5.0.1 and keep your baseband.

If you upgrade directly through iTunes, you'll want be able to unlock. I'm guessing with the Gevey sim?

If I go to iOS 5.0.1 and keep my current baseband, are there any drawbacks to this? Like stability or missing features? I can always upgrade my baseband later right?
