What amazes me is that many threads here go almost unnoticed although many have honest and relevant questions or issues. But then when someone rants about the notch *again* people feel the need to reply, at least just to say how much of a non-issue this is. Why? Haters gonna hate, folks. Let them rant and ignore it.

I was stunned that Apple went with the notch design last year. I thought it was ugly.

A year later, I got an XS and immediately found that it doesn’t matter. In. The. Slightest. Do I like it? No. Do I dislike it? No - no more than I liked or disliked the chunky forehead and chin of the old design. It’s just there, part of the design, not noticeable and facilitating the enormous benefit that is FaceID.

Very well said, and I feel the same way.

After a brief acclimation period, it’s simply a non-issue. Especially on the Max, where it takes up a much smaller percentage of the display area.

I don’t love the notch. I think it’s terrible design. That being said, most of the time I don’t notice it on my Max. I thought I would with video, but most video is 16x9 or 9x16, so they don’t occupy that part of the screen anyway. If I enlarged those videos, then I would notice the notch, but I’d also be losing content on the top and bottom of the screen, which would be worse than the notch.

At least with the iPhone notch Apple tried to make the shape and dimensions pleasing. I’m sorry to say the Pixel 3's notch is really, really ugly. It’s just way too big, too tall. It's like Google saw people complaining about how bad the Apple notch was and said, “Hold my beer.”
