If i wanted to get a new mac computer would I be able to back up purchased software from my original computer? I have some essential stuff like Adobe Illustrator CS5 that (run without the disc) i don't want to buy again because its installed on my current computer. Also what's the best backup solutions available? i heard carbonite is very useful online back up

Is your old computer also a Mac? If it is you could clone it's hard disc using carbon copy cloner (free) and then copying it onto your new Mac, it's basically like copying your whole computer into a spanking new shiney box :)
If it's not a Mac I think you may be out of luck!

Ha ha yes my computer is a macbook. But hey thanks for telling me about CCC. Imma checking out the website right now. So I assume it "clones" the entire computer xD I'll look into it thanks!

You say your original machine is a Mac. Why not do as I did and use Migration Assistant? I then removed the old drive and put it in a caddy and I now have an extra external drive.
