- When Steve Jobs was introducing the MacBook Air at Macworld earlier this year, he pointed out that it would open and close the way the MacBooks currently do - using a magnetic latch. He also pointed out that latches with hooks are very unappealing to him and essentially they are a thing of the past. Is it possible that the MacBook Pro's don't recieve a redesign this year which includes a latch-alteration? Could Jobs really make this comment and let a year go by before changing anything?

- Last year, Apple's product line was defined by the iPhone and it's impact extended to the creation of the iPod Touch. If this year's defining product is the MacBook Air, will it lead to a MacBook Pro redesign as well as a MacBook redesign (which increasingly appears to outdated when considering the look that Apple is taking on for it's products)?

Most likely(I'm hoping) the macbook pros will be completely redisigned with nahlem processors. most likely that redesign will have a magnetic latch. this update was not big enough to justify a magnetic latch.

yes thats true...but what if we don't like the redesign?? i am perfectly happy with the current design, its sleek! the MBA is ugly...just my 2c
