In the BM speed test (to test read/write performance), does the data that it writes get cleared when I quit the program? ie if I do the 5Gb test, does that 5Gb stay on my HDD?

BlackMagic will remove everything it writes onto your disk. Thus, nothing will be left on your disk by BlackMagic.

Thanks. So it defiantly won't lower my HDD free space then?

And what if I don't let if finish the test? (ie stop it once the speeds have popped up, rather than when it is finished)

If you don't finish the tests, the file will be erased upon pressing the start/stop button.

If you open a Finder window to the test disk, you will observe the test-file appear during the test, and disappear when you stop the test.
