Quick adaptor question.

I've got a 24" iMac and a LG HDTV which I want to connect to watch films on from my external hardrive.

Will I need a Mini Displayport to HDMI adaptor to watch 1080p movies or will a Mini Displayport to VGA adaptor suffice?

mDP to VGA will work but the image quality will be worse as the signal is analog. If you have a spare HDMI port in the TV, then buy an HDMI adapter, it's worth it.
