I tried searching everywhere but I couldn't find the answer. Am I able to jailbreak any apple tv2? I was looking to buy one from apple and jailbreak it but i wasn't sure if it only worked for the 4.4.4 software or what the newest software for it is.

Is 4.4.4 the standard software that comes shipped with the ATV2?

    Buy it now.

It will be as long as you buy one before a new iOS update releases. You'd better buy one now, so whenever you end up getting one it doesn't have a newer version of iOS that patches the current jailbreak exploit. Currently all AppleTVs on the shelf should have iOS 4.4.4 or earlier on them... If you wait until another newer release to buy one you could get one with a newer system and would not be able to downgrade. Therefore, if you wish to get an AppleTV and jailbreak it the best time to buy one is ASAP.

Only Apple knows that, based on rumors that the ATV3 should be announce next week, my guess is that we should see a new firmware on 2 or 3 weeks.

jailbreak software is season pass. Though I would probably buy a ATV3 when it comes out, I recently bought my second ATV2 because at least I knew I could jailbreak this version. Why not for only $99.
