Good mornin. I have read about using the 29w charger and the Apple cable usb-c to lightning to quick charge the iPad Pro 12,9.

i have a 85w usb-c charger and have bought the Apple cable but on trying to charge the iPad it doesn’t seem any quicker than using the charger supplied with the iPad?

can someone help? Is it only the 29w charger which will quich charge?

any advice would be most appreciate.

The capabilities of the charger are communicated through resistors on the signal lines of the USB data interface. Although the 85W charger technically has the 'oomph' to charge the iPad more quickly than the stock charger, the iPad probably doesn't recognize the resistor combination that the 85w charger is presenting. It might be that the iPad needs to see the very specific resistor combination of the 29w charger before it will accept charging at the higher rate.

If you search through the forums you will find a thread that somebody put together listing the usb-c chargers that fast charge the iPad Pro. Long story short it seems that only the 29w charger will work, had something to do with voltage/amperage multipliers if I recall correctly. I have the 29w charger I got with my MacBook and it does successfully fast charge my iPad Pro.
