My local (military) store has a 27" iMac, 1 TB Fusion for sale. It was their floor model computer. I can get it for $1300 which includes a 2-year warranty. I can return within a 45-day window as well if needed.

Any tips? Should I get it?

Does it fit your needs? If yes, buy it.

Yes, it does! Just nervous about it being a "floor model." I purchased my Macbook Air as an "open box" and have had no issues, but I don't know if a floor model would have more potential problems.

Really depends on the shape they keep it in. I initially thought you meant an Apple store on/near military base, but that may not be the case. I'd inspect it on the outside for signs of damage and then you have a warranty so I wouldn't worry. They will probably wipe the OS before purchase, but if not then I'd reinstall the OS at home and enjoy the machine.

If it's not an actual Apple store, you may also want to check to see if it's a 2015 or 2017 model. It's less of a steal if it's a 2015 model as you can get a certified refurb for about that price.

I checked the refurb section on Apple and for this one, it is still $400 more (protection plan, tax, etc). The $1300 is out the door here, as we have no tax due to being military. It is not at an Apple store, but the military exchange, who sells all types of Apple products. I'm assuming it is the i5, although I only got this info from calling..still need to head there to check it out more.

If it's a fairly modern 5K 27" and it looks in good condition go for it. Just check to make double sure you know what you are getting.

I'm assuming it is the i5, need to check it out at the store still

I'd say there's a 99% chance it's i5. The i7's in iMac's are BTO and they don't put those on display. I checked the 3rd party certified refurb sellers and they have the 2015 model with this config around $1550 with Apple 1 year warranty so it seems to still be a good deal. I'd check if it's 2015 or 2017 just so you know in the future but after looking around some it probably doesn't make much difference in the end.

No being an actual Apple retail store, I'd open a doc up and hit every button on the keyboard at least once, I'd go in settings and test each button and gesture of the mouse, and look for physical damage and then if all is good, check out with it (try to get a box for everything as well).

EDIT: My previous post about them wiping the OS, in this case, is probably not true. I would doubt that they are going to take it into a backroom and reinstall the OS for you. That's not necessarily bad, as you can easily do it yourself if there's unwanted junk on there from people playing around.

Consider you can get the entry 27" 2017 model for $1625 via AppleInsider and Adorama. Mine came in a couple days ago. They are out of stock now but should have more soon I would think. I think a new 2017 model is worth $325 more than a floor model 2015 -- maybe even a new one.
