I'm using WhatSize to clear out my HDD and I found a folder with 4gb of data under:

    HDD: private: var: vm:

And in there is a "Sleepimage" And swapfiles.

ARe these left over from an old Parallels installation that I don't use anymore? Can I delete them?

    thanks!

Don't mess with anything in /var/vm.

It contains your sleep image and swap files for OS X.

the sleep image file is for when your computer goes to sleep or dies, it can preserve the memory so you dont lose anything. Since yours is 4gb that means your have 4gb of ram.

Everyone has these. Wouldn't recommend deleting them.
