My friend and I both have iPhones and have iMessage enabled. However, the apple account setup on her phone belongs to her dad. If I were to text her, would my messages go to her dad as well?

I see there's an option in messages setttings "Receive at" and into "Caller ID" you can have just your phone number checked. If she did that, would that prevent my messages going to both if I were texting her number directly?

She can still have her own apple id and use her dads email for buyin stuff.

But the easiest thing would be to take the receive email to her own or take it out.

Really what this question is really saying is...

"If I sext her will her dad get it?"

bahaha I figured someone would mention this :p

but no, just a bit strange having someone read all your discussions

Just make sure she doesn't sign into her dad's Apple ID in iMessage. If she already is sign out. And make sure you are sending your messages to her number. If you do all that you're fine.

Have her create her own apple ID, then in the App Store only sign out of it and into her dad's. That way they can share apps but not messages. That's what my husband and I do.

Settings > Messages > Send & Receive

Make sure her Apple ID is listed there and number or email is listed under "You can be reached by iMessage at:"
