what am I missing on ios13 so I’m not getting the new quick path typing on my iPad. If I tap a letter and then hold it down and move to other letters nothing happens.

On iPad, you need to shrink your keypad down to "mini" size to use QuickPath. You do this by "squeezing" together your thumb and forefinger on the keypad (just like pinch to zoom). Once the keyboard is miniaturized, QuickPath will work. I would like it on the full size keyboard myself.

Once in the quickpath keyboard, how you get back to the normal keyboard? I’m asking for a friend.

Thank you for the replies. That sorted it. Shame it doesn't work on the larger keyboard.
+1 Agreed. It takes extra motion to use the efficient swipe method. :)

This is similar to the Apps update procedure. It now takes a couple extra taps to update apps (which most folks do every day). While these aren't huge issues, its odd that they have made changes/upgrades to make common tasks, longer/harder.

I am wondering why Apple doesn't just use the same control for the iPad keyboard as they do on the iPhone quickpath keyboard? The finger spread motion is not very intuitive and can be accomplished easier with a visual cue.

I'm sort of baffled as to why QuickPath (swipe) is only available when using the mini QuickType keyboard on iPad

I would presume Apples decision is based on the fact that the advantage to swipe keyboards is usually affiliated with one handed use. I mean, they could have kept it on the big keyboard. But I guess they think when you are using the big keyboard you are better off tapping

I haven’t tried iPadOS 13 yet but I was disappointed when I heard the swipe keyboard is only available in the mini keyboard.

Perhaps the reason is to prevent conflict with the swipe down keys (for numbers & symbols etc) but I don’t see why this should need to be an issue, especially with some minor tweaking. Even a toggle button to switch to swipe keyboard would be acceptable if need be.

Hopefully a future release will bring QuickPath to full-size keyboard but I won’t get my hopes up.

By the way, on a related note.... does anyone know if you can use the Swipe keyboard with the Apple Pencil?

My response here was done using the pencil. Call me surprised... sort of.

QuickPath isn’t working for me, neither in normal nor in mini size. I am on public beta 2, using ipad pro 2018. What am i doing wrong?

Go to Settings>General>Keyboards and make sure "Slide to Type" is toggled on. If it is and you are still having this issue, this may just be a bug that you need to report.

It is toggled on. I will report thanks

Swipe function still doesnt work for me with public beta 3, sigh...
I'd go ahead and report again (and open up your previous report and see if they are working on it and how many similar reports they've received). Good luck!

I understand now what the problem is. I am using turkish keyboard, i accidentally changed to english language today and it worked! So if anybody cares, i learned that swipe is language spesific!

Great! Your English is so good I never even thought to ask that. I think Quick Path only supports the following languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Portuguese

Thanks. Hope it will support turkish too.

Makes absolutely no sense why it is limited to a few languages. Previous swipe apps had no problems so don’t understand why it’s a problem?

One it’s a beta. Secondly, it takes resources to connect the swipe paths algorithmically to the various language dictionaries. This is not a trivial exercise.
