Just curious but why is it that almost all the pics I do see of macbooks that have a cracked top case, it's always the right side, in the spot and near the same length, not only that but 2 of my cousins had the same part chip off randomly, so did my old one (though all of the abnormalities that happen to my stuff always happen when my mother is using them...hmm).

You'll notice that those cracks line up with the spacer at the top of the display clamshell. When the computer is closed, a lot of right-handed folks will pick the computer up by that front right corner. Unfortunately, the pre-unibody MacBooks didn't like that, and they eventually crack from the pressure.

The good news is that Apple Stores and Apple-Authorized Service Providers are happy to fix it free of charge, even if your computer's out of warranty.
