Hi,
I'm currently looking at getting a desktop for the following uses -

3D (Maya, Lightwave...maybe 3DS Max under boot camp)
After Effects
Boujou
HD video editing.

Now, in no way does my budget stretch to a Mac Pro, so I'm looking at either an iMac or building a quad-core PC of some kind. I've got no problems with Windows at all, so if that's the best option then I'm happy to go down that road.

Would an iMac cope with all this, bearing in mind the integrated graphics chip in the most recent models? Being in the UK, I would have to spend around £1500 to get one with discrete graphics, so obviously the PC option has a financial advantage.

Anyway, any advice would be grateful!

You should look into the Refurb section of the online apple store for last generation iMac with graphics card.
