I have a HD connected to my AirPort Extreme so I can access it from my MBPr.

I just bought a Mini that I plan to keep running all the time and make available via Back to My Mac (for my MBPr) and Teamviewer (for mobile devices).

Any advantage to keeping the HD hooked to my Airport, or would hooking it to my Mini allow the same level of access from my MBPr? If it were hooked to my Mini, then at least I would enjoy fast USB3 transfers when I used it with the Mini, rather than having to hit the wireless network any time I wanted to access it from either computer.

Thanks!

no cars, only boats
my 5 cents worth

If you run your mini like a server it would make sense to connect the HD to the mini.

There is also some sense to have the HD on the airport, for example to store Time Machine backs and have them in a different location from the mini/mbp.

On the speed issue, yes... if you regularly manage large files. Otherwise frankly this is a none issue.

Thanks for the advice... I don't use TM, so that's moot.

I have 3 different user accounts on the MBPr, 1 personal and 2 work. I'm running out of space, so I'm migrating the work accounts to the Mini.
