Quick Question: Hand me down iPhone?

I just got the 3gs to replace my 16GB Edge iPhone.

A friend of mine has the 8GB Edge iPhone.

Do I just run the activation process like normal (on the 16GB) and then wipe the 8?

Swapping the sims wouldn't work since the 16gb isn't activated, right?

I think you can just take the SIM from the 8GB and put it in your old 16GB. I don't see why that wouldn't work.
