Quick Question New Battery (Pic)

Hopefully those pictures are clear enough to get an idea. The metal finish is disappearing it looks like. I have some of that on my MBP around the edges on the topside, never thought much of it. Figured it was cosmetic. However, I just bought this battery about a month and a half ago. What's the deal, is there a heat issue? Is this somewhat normal?

MBP from 2008, right before unibody update.

That does not seem normal, do you still have some kind of warranty on this battery?

I have Applecare for my MBP. I will search and see if battery issues are covered. I believe they are, as I almost qualified for a free replacement battery as I was told by an Apple Genius (literally 2 battery cycles too many from saving me $140).

since thats a new battery, take it to apple.
