Quick question on shortcuts

When I enter a shortcut in keyboards, how do I make it work. You can see in the picture what I have, but don't know how to get it when I type. Thanks for any help.

You set up a shortcut, like, for example, "brb" and then what it expands to, like "be right back", so when you are typing somewhere when you type "brb" it will suggest to expand it to "be right back" that you can just hit space and accept (it will change that "brb" to "be right back").
