Hey guys, I have still not figured out how to upgrade software on macs.

it possibly can't be just dragging the application to the trash and installing the newer version of softwares.

in windows you could just download a new version and it will automatically upgrade your software.

does that mean that if i want to update a software like flip4mac or neooffice i just download the newer version and just drag the .dmg file to applications and it magically gets updated?

    any input is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

You don't drag the .dmg file - you double click it, and move the app in the mounted disk image that comes to the Apps folder, you get asked whether you want to replace the older version. Then eject the disk image and delete the .dmg. I recommend AppFresh to simplify your updating :)
