    Hey all..

    I just wanted to confirm this because a friend of mine decided to try and jailbreak his 3G phone to 3.1 using pawnage (w/mac) and although everything seemed like it went well, he lost the signal bars (AT&T). He never had his phone jailbroken (not even 3.0.1).

    So he then went to his Windows PC and restored back to 3.0.1, it seems like everything is back to normal.

    The question is, if he is to want to jailbreak his iPhone, he can jailbreak his 3G to 3.1 using Pwnage, hoewever he would need a mac (which he doesn't now).

    So his other alternative is to just stay on 3.0.1 and jailbreak that using Redsn0w (PC Windows) till they release a Windows version of 3.1.

    Is this correct?

    In addition, did he screw anything up from upgrading his 3G to 3.1 (using Pwnage) the first time around? As stated before, he lost connectivity, hence, he downgraded back down. I'm going to assume he screwed up somewhere or...

    let me kow thanks!

    He probably built the IPSW wrong.

    If he is using AT&T, did he uncheck the activate phone box. If not, that is the problem. May need to rebuild the IPSW or get the correct IPSW off the internet (not hacktivated is the term used)

    If you are speaking of missing carrier name, that is a bug with baseband 4.11.xx and firmware 3.1.
