In the applications folder, can I make sub folders to make different categories? Or is it best to just leave all the apps sitting in the applications folder?

    Thanks.

it's best to just leave it or since your steve jobs just tell the apple engineering team to make this feature :D but make it in 10.6.2 we don't want delays

You can do pretty much anything you want in the Applications folder. There is no "better" way to do it.

Updates to iWork applications will not show up in Software Update unless they are in a folder titled "iWork" in the Applications folder.

Meaning, they can't just be sitting out in the folder itself for whatever reason.

I do it anyway and just download the standalone updates, but whatever.

    Thanks for the heads up

Weird that they have to be in that precise place for Software Update to work.

Maybe with should try and find a work around for that? Idk.
