Quick Question

How do you get the info displayed under your idisk icon and HD icon on the desktop that says how much space you've used and how much free space is left????

Go to Finder>View>View Options. Then, tick the box that says 'show item info'. Note that this affects other files on the desktop as well. For example, it will say what dimensions a picture is and how many files are in a folder.

Click on the desktop for hard drive and items on the desktop (or in the finder window for folders). Then View>Show View Options, check Show Item Info.
