Hey everyone! I managed to score a mid 2011 iMac which i’m pretty stoked about. I’m looking to fill the two extra ram slots and just wanted to make sure the RAM i’m planning to get is compatible -

My model is the 21.5” i5 2.5GHz - EMC 2428, to be exact. It supports up to 16GB of ram, and currently has two of its four slots taken up with two 2GB sticks.

I was going to get two four gig sticks of this ram:

    http://www.strontium.biz/products/memory-modules/laptop-memory/

specifically, the 1333 MHz module as i think that’s what my iMac supports.

I’m going with that brand because I can get it from a mate for a good price (he pulled it from an old laptop that was working fine). I just wanted to make sure it would work!

Thanks guys! Any help is appreciated. New here so hope i didn’t do anything wrong lol

That looks right but those models were a little picky about ram. Give it a try if it works buy it if it doesn’t then don’t it won’t do any harm, Unless the pin configuration is wrong but that looks fine.

It can handle up to 32GB 4 x 8GB. I know Apple says 16Gb, but at the time of its release it could only support up to 4GB modules. Memory improvements have made this 32GB. Poor thing must breally struggle with 4GB of memory.

\Macs are very fussy about low density modules and suggest you try Crucial or OWC, both Mac Specialists.
