I need to order some more RAM for my new computers, and after reading what everyone says, I guess I am going to get it from Crucial. Is that still a good choice? I think I read some people get it from OWC and maybe some others but I just wanted to make sure.

Also, why in name of Adams house cat is Apple ram so high? Even PNY ram at the local best buy or circuit city is higher (much) than crucial. What's the deal? I have always kinda felt like you get what you paid for, but with SOOOO many people here going crucial or something else, I figured they can't all be wrong. So what gives??

Also, I need to get some for my imac as well and was just curious...is the ram for my 2.8 C2E 24 inch the same as the ram for my 2.8 penryn C2D 15.4 inch macbook pro? I went over to crucial and looked at the part numbers and they are not the same...but the specs are identical. They even show a different part number for the 17 inch versus 15.4 inch MBP.

I don't know about Crucial, but I just ordered some more from OWC. I got 4 GB for a new MBP for around $90 (incl. shipping). Delivered in about 2-3 days from the date of order. Popped it in last night and it works fine, no problems.

I've ordered RAM from them 3x and HDDs 2x, and never had any complaints. Everything works great, ships and gets here quick, and the prices are very good. They get my vote.

2.8 Peryn MBP?

Either case, it doesn't really matter if it's says 15" or 17", they're just screens sizes. From the look of things, the planar board on the 17" is about the same size as the one on the 15"

I always order from OWC. they have great prices and fast shipping. everything works great in my machines. never dealt with crucial but I have heard good thngs. but my vote will always be OWC

yeah, I would like to know the answer to this as well. I accidently bought the ram that went with the last rev 2.6 mbp, and not the penryn 2.6 "which i own"

I checked the specs of the ram and they seem the same, just have diff part numbers. Will this make a difference in my computer. Will it not work as fast as it could of, or does it not matter?

MBP RAM for Canadians

I'm just going to tag my question here, rather than starting a new thread. I'd like to know where most Canadians are buying their RAM from. I'm leaning towards ordering RAM from OWC, but is there a better option in Canada?

I heartily recommend Crucial. I've gotten memory for about every PC I've owned the last few years. My first Mac was a black MacBook last year and I got a quick gig from them. Their selection finder is quick, easy and accurate. It comes quick and the price is reasonable.

If you're located in the United States I recommend you browse through one of the popular hot deals forums for deals on laptop memory. Usually Newegg or Outpost.com are going to have the lowest prices on RAM. There is no point in buying RAM direct from Crucial because you can buy the same Crucial RAM from Newegg for less.
