Like I'm sure many are, I'm getting quite excited about the release of Steam for Mac. A good chance to get back into some of the older games I left behind on Windows..

Currently, I'm running a Mac Mini, bought last year. It's a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo, 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD and Nvidia GeForce 9400M effort, which I understand is quite modest, but does anyone know how well that will stack up with playing games on Steam?

As a largely console gamer for pretty much the last decade I'm abit behind on the necessary specs to run alot of games so would like a general idea. I'll mainly be playing some older games like Counter-Strike, as my PS3 will still be my main gaming system, but would also like to check out Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2 and Left 4 Dead 1 & 2. Will my Mini be able to hack it, or should I be looking to upgrade?

Cheers for any help folks.

Bump the RAM to 4GB and it will. 1GB minus 128MB for 9400M is just not enough for games as 9400M isn't a power monster, let alone with 128MB of VRAM

Cheers for the help guys.

Going to look into a RAM upgrade. I suspected when I bought the Mini that I'd have to do this sooner or later so might aswell face upto it now, as playing Steam would certainly be nice (especially since it's got a launch date now)
