You have to have iTunes installed in order to get the right drivers installed, then connect the iPhone.

That's all I had to do on both XP and Win7 Pro. I installed iTunes, started it, stopped it, started tethering app on the iPhone and connected the iPhone. The tethering status bar popped up immediately on the iPhone and the laptop was connected to the Internet. I didn't need to do anything else on the laptop.

Maybe it's an outdated version of iTunes?

Could be. What version of Windows? BTW, iTunes is a requirement for using the ATT version of tethering, which makes sense since TetherMe simply enables that on a jb phone. Installing iTunes installs all the Windows drivers needed to support this. I'd recommend installing the latest version of iTunes, reboot and try again.

Like you, I looked all over Windows for how to enable this and once I found this dependence on iTunes, everything worked.

I had the same problem with my girlfriends abnoxious windows vista machine. Here's how I got it working:

    1. plug in iphone, let drivers install fully
    2. turn on tethering on phone
    3. unplug phone, turn off tethering on phone
    4. IMPORTANT: restart the windows machine
    5. plug phone in, let it fully load
    6. flip tethering on, give it a minute or two to do its thing on both ends
    7. open a browser and you be good to go.

    Good luck mate.
