Pull down on new notification to reply. Slide left on notification in Notification Center to show reply button.

How come I sometimes slide to left and don't hsve reply option?

Also on lock screen swiping left doesn't let me quick reply. Does the phone need to not have a passcode set up?

You need to have Show Previews turned on for quick reply to work.

It works fine with or without a passcode. Are you positive you're swiping it in the right direction? When you swipe, do you get a little "X" to let you dismiss the individual notification?

Most irritating thing with this quick reply is that if you press something else by mistake when you have started typing your message, then the quick reply window disappears and what you had typed up to that point, is also erased and you have to start over.

This is sloppy and poor. At least I should be able to go to the messages app and have my typed text saved there so I can continue from there, rather than having to restart from the beginning.

Or if another message comes in while you are doing it.

That's true.

I've read elsewhere that this is for native apps only, meaning whatsapp won't work with this feature. Let me tell you, that's pretty annoying when you send your partner like 1000+ msgs a day on there!

That's what I've been doing too, didn't know about the side-swiping. I usually pull from the tab at the bottom. Probably works only 75% of the time lol.

I've never had a problem with the quick reply when I want to use it. The only issues I have is when I can't get rid of it. It seems to stay there whilst I'm on Facebook or YouTube. The only way to get rid of it is to press the home button. Which makes it disappear but doesn't exit you out of the app which is handy to know I guess.

Yes it has a x next to it. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Are you tapping or are you sliding? A tap won't do anything. You need to actually hold down on the little spherical indicator under the message and pull it down to get the options.

Weird. I have the opposite problem. I can't use it because it disappears so quickly that I have no chance to swipe.

Edit: Figured out the gestures. To reply you Slide down on a notification banner, but slide right in the Notification Center. It's kinda odd for Apple to not have a uniform way of doing it but at least I got it figured out.

yeah, idk...it seems very buggy on my phone.

a text will appear and stay in the banner area for a very long time, then I will go to pull it down and 90% of the time it will just disappear

This is the thing. If i swipe the notification as it pops up ill get the quick reply text, but if i let the notification go away and then go into the notification bar and swipe left nothing pops up except for an x. idk why
