Quick unlock when putting on watch?

I'm on iOS 13.2.3 and watchOS 6.1. Is there a way to quickly unlock the watch without having to enter your passcode using the phone?

I put on my watch this morning and I hit the first digit of a 6 digit passcode, the screen flashed, and my calendar appeared. My watch was unlocked without having to put the code in. My phone was nearby, and I'm wondering if somehow it triggers the unlock.

Its setting in your watch app on your phone, toggle it on and you’re good to go.
