I love it's simplicity. I love it's usability. For the most part, I adore it's design. For the most part, it's probably one of the most well-designed TV remotes out there.

BUT WHY DID THEY HAVE TO MAKE IT SO F*!@#&G SMALL???

I found I have lost that stick-of-gum sized thing about three times a week since I got my ATV2 and now I lost it for good (I have two small children). I have since replaced it with a cheap universal remote and I'm honestly loathe to buy another one.

A friend of mine jokingly suggested I velcro an ATV2 remote to a 2x4. Almost a good suggestion.

I've given up on the remote. I loose it all the time even though it's never left my bedroom. I just use my iPhone or iPad to control it now.

My kids find very interesting places to lose our ATV remotes (we have two now since one is always going missing).

It drives me mad when I finally get to sit down on the weekend to watch tv and can't find either of the two remotes. There may have been swearing more than once.

I love it too, but I have to keep mine away from the cat; he loves to hide it on me, usually under furniture!

Was your ATV always on Animal Planet?

Thanks, I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitress.

    1. Remote app, such a perdy program, free & works on iPhones, iPads, iPod Touches. Don't need the gumstick remote at all.
    2. The ATVx can learn any remote, even big silly ones.

Then it's just a matter of getting the big silly one to work.

That's been a problem. I got the big silly one programmed (Philips SRU2103/27 Universal) but not only will the directional buttons not properly map (I had to use the number keys instead), it apparently won't send a restart signal to the ATV2 like the apple remote did. Am I doing something wrong or are secondarily mapped remotes unable to do the menu+down restart command? If you get my question?

Well at least it is bigger that the old white remote. :)

I have about four apple remotes that I don't use.

    No front row

I like my logitech universal remote.

I just programmed the buttons into my universal remote. That and use the ipad remote. Much easier and never have to lose that damn remote.

That shouldn't be much of a problem. If you go to the Program Remote setting on the aTV, you can program any unused buttons on most any remote to work the aTV. My DVD player died, and I didn't really use it anymore anyway, so I tied the DVD buttons on my cable remote to the aTV remote functions

I have 5 kids, oldest 7, I made sure I purchased some extra remotes. I also can use my iPhone.

We do go sometimes with no remote, which ends up in a remote hunt, that ends up finding about 5 remotes.

I am just so glad I am not the only one that looses the remote. There have been some epic looks for the thing. Someday it will end up in the toilet with my wallet if my 2 year old keeps this up.
