Tried to plug my Lacie into my partners family computer to transfer some bits and bobs but there PC wasn't having any of it.

Came up with an error saying it could not install, which i find odd as its just a normal NTFS drive.

I have a log in on my PC, would this "lock" the Lacie to my machine only?

What version of Windows are they running on the PC?

To elaborate if they are running Windows 95/98/Me they won't be able to read a NTFS disk, only FAT32 disks.

Both PC's are running XP Pro.

Both HD's are NTFS

When i plug my iPod into the other PC it comes up as a normal removable drive,

Are you plugging the LaCie into a USB port or a powered/unpowered hub, or Firewire port: 4 pin, 6 pin?. Need a bit more info exactly how you're connecting.

Mine = Firewire PCI card

Partners Family PC = USB 1, of which of course Windows delights in informing me thats its not a bloody Hi Speed connection.

My Lacie is a Triple Interface.
