Quickbooks 2019 worked fine for me on Ventura. Some occasional crashes. But just upgraded to Sonoma yesterday and it crashes every time.

Sounds about right. Having to switch from QB since my CPA will no longer work with it since it is Cloud-based now. He told me to avoid all accounting software that saves files to the cloud.

I’ve been running QB2019 for a couples of months on Ventura with no problems. Good to know it won’t run on Sonoma. I’ll eventually need to setup a dedicated computer for this software. I refuse to rent software.

It's a shame Apple never wrote their own accounting software - especially for Independent Contractors - I imagine a lot of Mac users fall into that category?

I have used QB Desktop since 1996 and being a one-man operation I don't use 90% of what it offers (Payroll, Inventory, Tax info, Online banking, etc,). I do use it for invoices, State Sales Tax, check writing, reports for CPA, etc. About $100/yr sounds about right to me.

I just use it to make invoices and keep track of who owes me money. It's WAY cheaper to keep an old machine around than spend $350+ per year on a subscription.

You could try WaveApps, it's free for invoicing and accounting. It's web-based, so no buggy or suddenly incompatible software to install. I've been using it for years and find it to be more than adequate for my needs. You can even accept credit card payments easily (for the standard fees, of course).

Thanks everyone! I'm still using QB 2019 and started researching compatibility with macOS 11, 12, and 13 late last year. At that time, it wasn't compatible with Ventura and can't buy QB 2021, so I'm glad I tried searching again today and found this thread. Currently, I'm using it with macOS 12 on an Intel MBPro 16". Planning on upgrading my MBPro…

I'm happy to report QB 2019 works fine on a new MacBook Pro M4 Max running Sequoia 15.1.1.

What an upgrade from my 2019 Intel MCP.
