In persona non grata
My folks are thinking of getting a Mac. One issue is that they use and like Quickens for doing their books. I haven't had any experience with Quickens in the past 6-7 years, but from what I've seen here on the forums it seems that Quickens for Mac is a fairly poor cousin to it's Windows companion.

Is there any good alternative to Quickens for Mac?

Actually the current version of Quicken is very good.

A simple search over at Versiontracker.com should yield myriad alternatives.

Quicken for Mac is a solid, stable and top-rate product, relative to its other Mac competitors. However, it is indeed true, Quicken for Mac is the black sheep of Intuit's family of financial products. It is always a year or more to adopt new features that Windows users have had for some time, and continues to lack in several core areas.

That said, the new version of Quicken for Mac is an excellent update compared to its earlier versions.

Frankly though, at the end of the day, you'd be hard pressed to find something better than Quicken that is a native Mac application. All of the Mac's other financial planning products are really inferior.

It's the best available for the platform. But definitely not nearly as good as the Windows version.

We still use Quicken on one of the Windows computers. I am assuming that Quicken 2007 for the mac is not the "super duper new Mac re-write" that was promised just a couple of months ago? If I recall correctly, that was supposed to come later this year.

There is another option, the hosted or online quicken as well.
